A stratospheric goal from Adams gives Torino victory against Empoli

A spell from Che Adams from midfield gives Torino three fundamental points. In the advance match that opened the sixteenth day of the top Italian championship, Paolo Vanoli’s boys beat Castellani di Empoli and returned to victory after having collected two points in the last six games. With this success the Granata reach the Tuscans in the standings at 19 points and take a breath of fresh air. The first fifteen minutes are a matter of study with the two teams not getting hurt, then Empoli takes control of the match and creates chances: in the 15th minute Gyasi tries to turn, but Coco makes a great stop. From the corner kick Ismajli scores the goal to make it 1-0, but the referee Bonacina, making his debut in Serie A, cancels it for a charge against Milinkovic-Savic.

In the 17th minute the first Toro flash with a shot from Sanabria that goes just wide. In the middle of the first half Empoli dominates: in the 26th minute Colombo turns and unleashes a dangerous left-footed shot but Milinkovic-Savic saves himself with a corner kick. Around half an hour of play it was Torino who had the best opportunities: in the 32nd minute Ricci hit a sure header, but Vasquez said no. The Empoli goalkeeper, four minutes later, was the protagonist of an extraordinary save on a header from Sanabria. On the corner kick Coco, all alone, doesn’t direct the ball well and eats up the 0-1.

In the second half they immediately had two chances: in the 47th minute Colombo attempted a shot but Milinkovic-Savic was attentive and a minute later Linetty fired a good chance high from the edge. In the 54th minute the biggest scoring opportunity of the match: cross from the left, Gyasi is rebounded and the ball reaches Cacace who, from five meters away, sends the ball into a curve devouring the opening goal. Vanoli upsets the attack midway through the second half: Adams and Njie in, Sanabria and Karamoh out and the game changes. In the 70th minute Adams invents the Sunday goal: shortly after the halfway mark he unleashes a perfect right-footed shot that mocks Vasquez, outside the posts, and drives the Granata people crazy with joy. The same Torino striker, three minutes later, also came close to making it 0-2 with his shot that grazed the post. In the final, Empoli tried with little conviction and failed to find the spark that was worth the draw.
