Danish Pernille Harder and Swedish Magdalena Eriksson are a bit of a power couple in the football world.

Together they play in the big club Chelsea, but they are also each other’s better halves outside the chalk lines.

Now they are on the front page of Elle with the headline ‘Everyone’s game’ (Everyone’s game, ed.), Where the focus is on diversity in the world of sports.

The magazine is world-famous, is published in several countries, has millions of followers on social media, and the publication takes place just a few weeks before the first whistle at the European Championships in women’s football is heard in England.

– I feel very proud. Among other things, because they wanted us on the front page and paid tribute to women’s football before the European Championships. It has only been positive, says Magdalena Eriksson to Swedish Expressen, before she comes to mind another picture of the two turtle doves.

– It’s a little fun, because we had our picture from the World Cup in 2019. Now we have a new picture that shows that you have to be who you want to be.

The national team player refers to a very special shot that was taken after Sweden’s quarterfinal victory over Canada on June 24 at the World Cup in 2019.

Magdalena Eriksson walked towards the sideline and saw Pernille Harder in a Swedish national team jersey, after which she hugged and kissed her.

The whimsical episode was intercepted by a wax photographer and the image went viral.

– In two days I had gained over 20,000 new followers on Instagram. We thought we stood a little to ourselves, and we did not notice at all that one had taken a picture, Eriksson said about the moment at the time.

A few days later, they kissed again, as Sweden had secured bronze medals. An image you can see at the top of the article.

On Thursday, national coach Lars Søndergaard selects the Danish European Championship squad, and it will be a real surprise if Pernille Harder is not among the names.
