Ice hockey: Tero Lehterä signed a contract extension

The women’s national ice hockey team continues in the same command.

Naisleijonien head coach Tero Lehterä will continue as the head coach of the Women’s Lions next season.

Ice Hockey Federation announced that he used the option year in Lehterä’s contract. According to the release, both parties wanted to extend the contract for another season.

Lehterä, 53, started work in the spring of 2025. His contract was for 1+1 years.

The female lions did not succeed in the Milan-Cortina Olympic Games in the winter. The team played five matches, of which they won only one. The trip was interrupted in the quarterfinals against Switzerland.

Despite the difficulties of the Olympic Games, the association sees Lehterä as the best person to coach the Women’s Lions next season as well.
