Competitor from Paraná Clube changes coach and hires “king of Segundona”

Rio Branco announced, this Tuesday (31), the hiring of the experienced technician Claudemir Sturgeon to recover in the Second Division of the Paraná Championship. Considered the main competitor of Paraná ClubLeão da Estradinha has just one win in five games and is in sixth place.

In the last round, Rio Branco starred in the great game of Paraná football with a 6-6 draw against Araucária. Playing in Paranaguá, but as a visitor, the Litoral team was losing 6-2, but scored four goals in the final 15 minutes and celebrated the point achieved as if it were a victory.

However, the manager of Rio Branco’s SAF, Marcos Amaral, opted for a change in technical command due to irregularities at the start of the State Championship. The then coach Luiz Fernando, who was at the base last year, remains at the club as a permanent assistant to the professional team.

Claudemir Sturion arrives with extensive experience in the Second Division of the Paraná Championship, a competition in which he was champion three times (2008 with Nacional, 2013 with Maringá and 2023 with Andraus). Furthermore, the experienced coach won the Third Cup on two other occasions (2021 with today’s Galo Maringá and 2022 with Grêmio Maringá).

Sturion moves to his third club this season. He started the year at Andraus, but left the club before the decisive clash to remain in the elite of the Campeonato Paranaense against Cascavel. Without the coach, the team from the Metropolitan Region of Curitiba (RMC) was relegated.

Afterwards, the coach worked at Dourados-MS in just one match and did not avoid being eliminated in the quarter-finals of the Campeonato Sul-Mato Grossense by Corumbaense.

Sturion’s debut in Rio Branco will be in a direct confrontation with Paranavaí, next Sunday (5), at 3:30 pm, in Paranaguá.
