FC Pohu’s objection to IF Gnistan’s cup win was rejected

Football club FC Pohu’s objection to Gnistan’s victorious Finnish Cup match has been rejected, informs Football Association.

Doubts arose in the ranks of FC Pohu about the right to play of the opponent’s players after the match of the third round of the Finnish Cup played last Tuesday.

Gnistan won the match 2–0, but in the Pallioliitto system it looked like five Gnistan players had been suspended before the game.

Before the match, the result service system of the Finnish Football Association’s matches in TASO looked as if Gnistan had gambled on five ineligible players in the match. Five players had the marking pp, which means amateur player.

According to the rules of the Finnish Cup, the player representing the league team in the Cup must be a contracted amateur or professional player.

According to Gnistan, contracts had been signed with all the players used in the Cup game.

Football Association according to the report, all IF Gnistan players mentioned in the objection had a player contract that was valid at the start of the match and that met the format requirements of the competition regulations. However, according to Pallloliitto, the contracts had not yet been saved in the Pelipaikka system when the match started.

The competition function considered that the existence of a valid contract is a prerequisite for the player’s right to play. According to the rules, not entering the contract in the register can lead to a disciplinary sanction, but in this case, according to Pallloliitto, it does not enable the final result of the match to be changed.

There is a possibility to appeal the decision to the objection committee of the Football Association.
