Nico González, out against Arsenal due to a muscle injury in his left thigh

Atlético de Madrid’s Argentine midfielder Nico González suffered a muscle injury to his left thigh in training this Tuesday and was left out of the squad for the first leg of the Champions League semi-final against Arsenal FC (9:00 p.m.), in which the injured Pablo Barrios and José María Giménez are also absent.

“Both Pablo Barrios and José María Giménez, who continue to recover from their respective injuries, are missing from the squad, as well as Nico González, who suffered a muscle injury to his left thigh in training this Tuesday,” the mattress club reported on its social networks along with the squad for the European duel.

The two new additions to the list are Ademola Lookman and Dávid Hancko. The first, absent since the final of the Copa del Rey Mapfre due to a muscle problem; and the second, out since the first leg of the Champions League quarterfinals, when he suffered an ankle injury. In addition, the already known absences of Barrios and Giménez.

Thus, the call is made up of goalkeepers Juan Musso, Jan Oblak and Salvador Esquivel; defenders Matteo Ruggeri, Clément Lenglet, Nahuel Molina, Dávid Hancko, Marc Pubill, Robin Le Normand, Javi Boñar and Julio Díaz; the midfielders Koke Resurrección, Rodrigo Mendoza, Johnny Cardoso, Álex Baena, Thiago Almada, Marcos Llorente and Obed Vargas; and the forwards Julián Álvarez, Antoine Griezmann, Alexander Sorloth, Giuliano Simeone and Ademola Lookman.
