Nevertheless, the neo-Austrian had to face the Ukrainian on Thursday evening Marta Kotsyuk defeated 2:6, 6:1, 1:6. Kotsyuk was particularly outstanding in defense and was overall the more stable player in this duel.
Potapowa is the first Austrian woman to reach the semi-finals of a tournament in this category. The 25-year-old will move into the top 40 in the world rankings on Monday.
