Wax figure: Musiala and his doppelganger: “A shock for me”

Shortly before the DFB Cup final and the upcoming World Cup, Jamal Musiala experienced a moment of shock – but to the relief of many fans of FC Bayern and the national team, it had nothing to do with football. The offensive star presented his own guard figure from Madame Tussauds. “Scary,” said the 23-year-old when he saw his artificial image for the first time. “It’s a shock to me that it looks so real.”

Four days before the cup final, Musiala found time to present the figure in Munich, which was then taken to the museum in Berlin. The young star will be the third active footballer to be exhibited there – alongside his teammates Joshua Kimmich and Manuel Neuer. Despite repeated requests, Musiala did not comment on the goalkeeper or reports about his comeback in the DFB team for the World Cup.

World Cup “in mind”, DFB Cup in focus

Musiala also did not want to talk in detail about the World Cup, for which national coach Julian Nagelsmann is announcing his squad this Thursday. “You already have this in your head,” he admitted.

But the focus is on the cup final, which he has never experienced on the pitch before. At the last Munich final to date in 2020 under Corona conditions and without spectators, the then 17-year-old Musiala was not in the squad. “I heard from other players that the mood and atmosphere were really cool,” said the attacker. His FC Bayern meets VfB Stuttgart this Saturday (8 p.m./ARD and Sky).

Musiala hopes to be in top form in the final and at the World Cup

Musiala is convinced that after the championship celebration and “two long days” he will be ready for the final. The attacker is slowly getting closer to top form after being out for months due to a serious lower leg injury. Will we be able to see the “Magic Musiala” that Bayern coach Vincent Kompany often talks about again on Saturday? “That would be a good time,” he said.
