Defending champion Paris Saint-Germain can rely on its most recently ailing world footballer and Ballon d’or winner Ousmane Dembélé in the Champions League final. “I’m 100 percent ready,” said the French international before the final this Saturday (6 p.m., ZDF/DAZN) against the challengers Arsenal FC.
Star striker Dembélé suffered a calf injury in the league game in mid-May and only returned to team training this week. He wasn’t afraid of missing the final. “I had 10 to 15 days to get myself back in shape,” explained the 29-year-old, leaving no doubt about his fitness.
Dembélé is in the squad against the English team, as is Achraf Hakimi. The Moroccan full-back suffered a thigh injury in the 5-4 spectacular win in the semi-final first leg against FC Bayern.

PSG could become only the second team, after Real Madrid, to defend the title since the new format was introduced in 1992. Last year, the Parisians only eliminated Arsenal in the semi-finals and humiliated Inter Milan 5-0 in the battle for the trophy. “We want to win more trophies. It would be a historic evening for Paris Saint-Germain,” said Dembélé.
A success would only be truly historic for Arsenal FC, who want to crown their super season a few days after winning the Premier League. The Londoners around German international Kai Havertz have never been able to win the premier class.
