Bayern are fighting for their only remaining title

The Munich team had already easily won their third semi-final against Telekom Baskets Bonn in the evening with 77:57 (37:25) and reached the final for the third time in a row with a 3-0 win. The Munich team won the championship title in 2024 and 2025. For coach Svetislav Pesic’s team, after a messed up season so far, it’s all about the only title of the season.

Final opponent Alba or coach Gavel?

The outstanding player for Munich was Xavier Rathan-Mayes. The winger scored 27 points and converted six of his nine three-point attempts. The game was almost decided at half-time. The Munich team are also clear favorites in the final (from June 12th). Pesic’s team is undefeated in the playoffs and has won five of its six games by at least 20 points.

The final series will take place either against long-term rival Alba – or against Anton Gavel, who is considered the new Bayern coach and who still has a contract with cup winners Bamberg for the next season.

The Franconians improved significantly, especially defensively, and seemed well recovered after two significant defeats in the capital. The Gavel team’s best thrower was Cobe Williams with 20 points and Ibi Watson (18). Berlin’s problem was primarily the three-point quota: before the break, the Berliners only scored one of 13 attempts. Alba’s comeback in the last quarter came too late.
