Jesse Puljujärvi’s World Championship gold medal has been stolen

Puljujärvi confirmed to Helsingin Sanomat on Monday that his gold medal went missing last week at the championship party.

“On Tuesday, we were with the team at a karaoke bar in the center of Helsinki and the medal was stolen there. I had the medal on the couch and it was stolen from there,” says Puljujärvi.

“Then it disappeared, and we looked for the medal, but it was not found. It was stolen. There is no other way.”

Puljujärvi wonders why someone would even think of usurping another World Cup gold medal.

“The funny thing about this is that it has no value to anyone else. I hope someone could return it.”

According to Puljujärvi, it is possible that he will receive a new gold medal if the original medal is not returned.

“Yes, I have a chance to get a new one. I hope the original can be found, though. I got the contact information of the karaoke place, and they cleaned the place, and it was nowhere to be found. It wasn’t there. There was no other choice but for someone to take it.”

Puljujärvi is the only player on the gold team whose medal disappeared.

“I was the only one. So, of course,” Puljujärvi smiles.

He was the first to tell about the disappearance of Puljujärvi’s gold medal Sportscast.

A gold medal despite the disappearance, Puljujärvi, 28, had great memories of the championship game.

“It was quite a week. It was really cool to still spend time with the guys. We had a sauna and had fun,” Puljujärvi says.

The return to Finland accompanied by the Hornets and last Monday’s public celebration in front of the Olympic Stadium were particularly memorable.

Puljujärvi took a role in the national celebration by shouting the phrase “Is it time” in front of 80,000 Finnish fans.

“It was planned. We went through it in advance to see if it was a good thing. We ended up with the fact that it was a really good thing, and I went to shout at the crowd. There was a little bit of shouting, but it didn’t seem to bother much”, laughs Puljujärvi.

Puljujärvi returned to his home in Oulu last Wednesday.

“We went to play a bit of golf with our friends, and at the end of the week we had a good time. It was a nice end to a special week. The World Championship gold brought a little extra boost to the good times,” announces Puljujärvi.

Now the party has been celebrated and the return to everyday life has come.

Puljujärvi, who is known as a manic trainee, plans to take this week more relaxed, but starting next week, the familiar training frenzy will begin.

“This week I’m going to sweat a little and give my body a little boost so that it won’t be such a shock next week, when I’ll start training more purposefully.”
