Pekka Rinne was elected to the Hockey Hall of Fame as the first Finnish goaltender

Rinne is the first Finnish goaltender ever to receive the honor and only the fourth Finnish player in the Hockey Hall of Fame.

Before Rinnett, he had been elected to the Hockey Hall of Fame Jari Kurri, Teemu Selänne and Riikka Sallinen.

Rinne, 43, played fifteen seasons in the NHL. He only represented the Nashville Predators, where he had 369 wins in the regular season.

Rinne won the Vezina award for the NHL’s best goaltender in the 2017–2018 season.

“This honor is for me and everyone in the Nashville Predators organization. It’s incredible to think that I get to join my teammates by Shea Weber join the Hockey Hall of Fame,” Rinne said in the press release.

Lions Rinne represented four times at the World Championships and won one silver. He was chosen as the most valuable player of the 2014 Games.
