At the age of 44, the American also wants to compete as a soloist in the grass classic. The All England Club gives her a wild card.

Favorites at Wimbledon

The tournament has rarely been as open as this year: last year’s winners Jannik Sinner and Iga Swiatek are not in top shape. Sinner, who won almost everything in the first few months of 2026, lost in the heat of Paris after a 2-0 set lead and then took a break until the first serve at Wimbledon. Swiatek was surprisingly eliminated in the round of 16 at the French Open on her favorite surface, clay. One of the favorites is the world number one Aryna Sabalenka also Jessica Pegula, Coco Gauff (both USA) and the Czechs Linda Noskova and Marie Bouzkova, who each won a preparation tournament.

Last year’s finalist and two-time winner is missing from the men’s division Carlos Alcarazwho is suffering from a wrist injury. Also the former series winner Novak Djokovic (seven titles at Wimbledon) at the age of 39 no longer seems to be in shape to meet the tough demands of a Grand Slam. The American Taylor Fritz (last year’s semi-finalist, Halle and Stuttgart finalist) plays well on grass, even if 2026 has not been his year so far. The preparatory tournaments were won by Ben Shelton (USA), Frances Tiafoe (USA), Francisco Cerundolo (Argentina) and Kamil Majchrzak (Poland).

French Open winner Andrejewa

:Success that is addictive

Mirra Andrejewa, highly gifted, funny and reflective, wins the French Open at the age of 19. She owes her first Grand Slam victory to the expertise of her coach Conchita Martínez – and the firm belief in her own abilities.
