Great Britain: Prince William: “My father hates football”

The British Prince William (44)’s love for football is well known – from his father King Charles III. (77) but he did not inherit this. “My father hates football,” the heir to the British throne said with a laugh on the US podcast “New Heights” when asked whether his father took him to his favorite club, Aston Villa.

His family “doesn’t have a particularly long football tradition,” the 44-year-old continued. Although some supported a club, he developed his love for football through friends. School friends took him to his first game, he told brothers and podcast hosts Travis and Jason Kelce.

William on Tuchel: Put the team in good shape

The Prince of Wales is patron of the English Football Association FA and often appears in the stadium at games of his favorite club Aston Villa or the English national team.

When asked what result would be a success for England at the current World Cup, William said with a laugh: “That they win, I think.” The German coach Thomas Tuchel has “put the team in a very good mental state” and is relying on “more freedom and flow of the game”.

If Bayern star Harry Kane’s team made it to the final, the British prince would definitely be there in the stadium, according to his own words.
