“I have to do better”, Sinner ‘dissatisfied’ at Wimbledon 2026: Jannik’s recipe for winning

Jannik Sinner dissatisfied at Wimbledon 2026. Today, Friday 3 Julythe Italian tennis player beat the American Jenson Brooksby in the third round of the London Slam, winning in three sets and thus reaching the round of 16, becoming the second youngest ever to reach the round of 16 of Grand Slam tournaments at least 20 times after Novak Djokovic. However, not everything about the performance satisfied Sinner, who made this clear immediately after the match.

“I’m certainly very happy with the victory. I try to improve every day and today I saw a small step forward. If I want to go far in this tournament, however, I have to improve, there are a couple of things that we need to manage better“, said Sinner in the center of Camp 1, “but overall I am very happy. Brooksby is a very tough opponent. I played against him 5 years ago. We are both improving, we are different.”

Sinner also spoke about the celebration at the moment of the third match point, when he put his finger to his ear and invoked the public’s help: “It’s a very unusual thing for me, but I needed it today. I was ahead by a break, I served to close the match and I didn’t succeed”, explained Sinner, “then I had some match points, but I wasn’t able to convert them. So I tried to run towards the finish line and the crowd helped me today.”

On his next opponent, the Japanese Shintaro Mochizukiwho surprisingly beat Rafa Jodar: “We’ve never played, we’ll see. Anyone who gets to the round of 16 of a Slam deserves to be there, so it will be a tough match,” said Sinner, “I know he played against a very tough opponent today. Especially on this surface, it’s very unpredictable, if you have a slightly bad day, it’s hard to get out of it. I try to focus more on myself, trying to be the best I can in a couple of days.”
