German Football Association: Information about key points: No decisions at meeting on Klopp

The meeting of top DFB officials on Jürgen Klopp’s hoped-for commitment as national coach ended without any concrete results. According to dpa information, the digital meeting of the supervisory board and the shareholders’ meeting of DFB GmbH and Co. KG had a purely informational nature.

DFB President Bernd Neuendorf reported on the discussions held in recent days with Klopp in New York and Oliver Mintzlaff, the boss of his current employer Red Bull, in Munich.

Klopp’s advertising contracts are also in focus

A sticking point for a final agreement with Klopp is his various private advertising contracts. The DFB must work with its own partners to find a solution to the extent to which the 59-year-old, as a future national coach, can possibly also be active for rival companies.

As with Klopp himself, the DFB has apparently already reached key points for an agreement with Red Bull. This is probably still a matter of details. According to reports, Klopp will receive a contract until the 2030 World Cup as the 13th head coach of the national team.

There are apparently “creative solutions” with Red Bull as to how the beverage company’s contract as Head of Global Soccer, which runs until 2029, can be terminated. The “Bild” newspaper also reports this with information from the meeting.

Klopp’s summer job ends this week

According to dpa information, financial conditions such as Klopp’s possible salary or compensation payments for Red Bull were not discussed there. It is currently unclear when a final solution can be achieved. Mintzlaff is traveling to the USA to speak directly to Klopp about the World Cup final on Sunday (9 p.m./ZDF/MagentaTV).

The former successful coach of Borussia Dortmund and Liverpool FC will end his summer job as an expert for MagentaTV with the final.

There is no rush to replace Julian Nagelsmann, who resigned after the World Cup disappointment. The next international matches are from September 24th to October 4th with four games in the Nations League in the Netherlands, against Serbia and twice against Greece.
