The Spanish team arrives in Madrid with the world champions trophy

The Spanish men’s team, new world champions after beating Argentina (1-0) in the final of the World Cup in the United States, Mexico and Canada, landed with the World Cup at the Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport after 2:20 p.m., to begin a festive day in the capital.

After several members of the expedition descended the stairs to the tarmac from the plane, the coach, Luis de la Fuente; the captain of ‘La Roja, Rodri Hernández; and the president of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), Rafael Louzán, posed with the golden trophy, showing it to the media, with hundreds of fans waiting in the terminal who could not see the world champions.

After about six and a half hours of flight from New York, the footballers and the coaching staff arrived in the Spanish capital visibly tired from the flight from North American lands and from the effort made in a World Cup final that lasted more than 120 minutes.

Then, the team got on a bus to the terminal to begin the celebration. The team will have a first meeting with the Kings at the Zarzuela Palace and then will go to the Moncloa to receive the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez.

After the official events, the champions will tour some of the most important streets of the capital in an open bus bound for Plaza de Cibeles in a crowded street, which will have surprises and multiple musical performances.

From 6:00 p.m., the stage installed next to the Communications Palace will host a complete program of music, entertainment and shows that will liven up the wait until the arrival of the players and coaching staff, scheduled, approximately, around 9:00 p.m., with the participation of DJs, prominent artists and numerous surprises.

The complete itinerary, which will begin around 7:00 p.m., will be: Palacio de la Zarzuela – A-6 – Moncloa (beginning of the street) – C/Princesa – Alberto Aguilera – Carranza – Sagasta – Génova, in the opposite direction – C/Goya – C/Serrano – Plaza de la Independencia – Puerta de Alcalá – Alfonso XII – C/Montalbán.
