The world football association Fifa has opened an investigation into the incidents after the end of the World Cup final between Spain and Argentina. The disciplinary committee has taken appropriate steps, according to a statement quoted by international media, including the AP news agency and the British broadcaster Sky.
The Argentinian Leandro Paredes was carried away after the 0-1 defeat against Spain after the end of extra time. During Spain’s scuffle, Paredes grabbed Gavi’s shirt, hit him in the face with his hand and pushed him to the ground. He had previously pushed Eric Garcia. Paredes then saw the red card. The Argentine was already on the verge of being sent off during the game.
Paredes was not named in the statement.
