FC Barcelona announced this Thursday the signing of the Polish center Olek Balcerowski, 25 years old and 2.16 meters tall, who arrives free after leaving Unicaja and signs with the Blaugrana team until June 30, 2028 to reinforce the interior game of the new Blaugrana project.
Balcerowski lands at the Palau after a long career, in which he has won a Euroleague (2024) and a Greek League (2024) with Panathinaikos, a Eurocup (2023) with Gran Canaria, as well as a Basketball Champions League (2025), a Copa del Rey (2025), an Endesa Super Cup (2024) and two FIBA Intercontinental Cups (2024 and 2025) with Unicaja.
The Blaugrana club highlighted in a statement that the player, trained in Spain after arriving in Gran Canaria at only 13 years old, will occupy a training player position (‘quota’). The center, born in Swidnica (Poland), stands out for his mobility, athletic ability and offensive versatility, combining his presence near the rim with a reliable outside shot despite his 2.16 meters.
Balcerowski debuted with the Gran Canaria first team at just 17 years old and played in the Euroleague for the first time in the 2018-19 season. After establishing himself in the Canary Islands team, he was twice elected best young player in the Eurocup and won the second continental title in 2023, before making the jump to Panathinaikos.
In the Athenian team he won the Euroleague and the Greek League in the 2023-24 season, while the last two years he defended the Unicaja shirt, with which he played 68 Endesa League games and expanded his record with the Basketball Champions League, the Copa del Rey, the Endesa Super Cup and two FIBA Intercontinental Cups before committing to Barça until 2028.
