Greek striker Christos Tzolis signs for Arsenal

Arsenal announced this Thursday the signing of Greek striker Christos Tzolis from Club Brugge, the best player in the Belgian league for the last two seasons, to cover the departure of Leandro Trossard.

“We are pleased to announce the signing of a long-term contract with Christos Tzolis. The 24-year-old striker arrives from Club Brugge, where he played 108 games in all competitions, scoring 43 goals and giving 45 assists for the Belgian team,” the London team announced on its website.

Tzolis began his professional career in his native country, playing for PAOK Thessaloniki. After scoring 20 goals in 27 games for the under-19 team, the Greek international progressed through the youth system until making his first-team debut against Olympiacos in June 2020.

The forward was already in the Premier, in the ranks of Norwich City, and also spent time in the Netherlands and Germany, at FC Twente and Fortuna Düsseldorf, before signing in the summer of 2024 for Club Brugge. In Belgium, Tzolis was named ‘Best Player’ of the League in the two seasons he played, with the title in the second, to now head to London.

“Christos is an extremely versatile attacking player who works naturally on the left, but is comfortable in any position along the line of attack. He is an excellent finisher with both feet, performs perfectly in small spaces and has incredible technical ability,” said Arsenal sporting director Andrea Berta.

According to local media, the English club pays 40 million euros for the Greek player, who reinforces Arsenal’s offensive package after the departure of Belgian Leandro Trossard to Besiktas last week.
