Richard Carapaz wins the 18th stage of the Tour de France solothe 185 km Voiron-Orcières Merlette. The Ecuadorian from the EF Education–EasyPost team won with a 45″ lead over the Swiss Mauro Schmid (Team Jayco Alula) and the American Matteo Jorgenson (Visma Lease a bike). Slovenian Tadej Pogacar (UAE Emirates), who arrived in the group more than 4′ behind the winner, retains the yellow jersey as leader of the race with 4’32” on the Belgian Remco Evenepoel (Red Bull-Bora Hansgrohe) and 6’51” on his teammate the Mexican Isaac Del Toro. Tomorrow 19th and penultimate stage of the Grande Boucle, starting from Gap and arriving uphill at Alpe d’Huez after 128 km.
