Athletics: NADA investigates Owen Ansah’s doping violation, threatens to ban him for up to four years – Sport

At the beginning of July, Ansah refused to allow a NADA inspector to submit a doping sample. NADA then initiated proceedings regarding a possible violation of anti-doping regulations. In the results management procedure under sports law, violations of the anti-doping provisions of the Anti-Doping Code of the German Athletics Association (DLV) and of Article 2.3 of the National Anti-Doping Code (refusal or failure to submit to sampling) were identified.

Ansah, who improved the German 100 meter record to 9.98 seconds in June, was not provisionally suspended by NADA a few days before the start of the European Championships in Birmingham (August 10th to 16th). According to the statement, the 25-year-old’s ban begins “only on the day of the corresponding final decision by NADA or a disciplinary body or on the day on which the proposed ban was accepted.”

In addition, all of Ansah’s competition results, who most recently sprinted to the title in Wattenscheid at the German championship, are to be canceled in the period from the violation (July 9) to the start of a provisional suspension or ban. Ansah now has 20 days to accept Nada’s findings or to request that disciplinary proceedings be initiated at the German Sports Arbitration Court (DIS).
