The last days of Maradona’s life, “he no longer got out of bed and didn’t want to eat”

“In the last days of life, the conditions of Diego Armando Maradona they had gotten worse. He didn’t get out of bed, he didn’t want to eat, he didn’t want to change his clothes or wash himself. He didn’t even want a massage. I was there in case he called me, but he didn’t want anything.” It is the testimony of Nicolás Taffaril, the masseur who went to the home of the Pibe de Oro in his last period, provided during one of the hearings of the process on the death of the legendary Argentine champion, who passed away on 25 November 2020. Seven members of the medical team who treated Maradona appear in the dock.

“Maradona had swollen legs”

“He had swollen legs.edema in the legs it didn’t decrease, on the contrary it got worse and worse. I asked if he was taking diuretics, and the nurse told me no, that they had stopped them. I don’t know by whom,” added Taffaril, confirming that he had shared his concerns with Leopoldo Luque, one of defendant doctors, with whom he was in daily contact. “The doctors told me not to worry, that these things would pass. When you are nervous, you have faith that it will pass, that everything will be resolved. But it didn’t happen”, is his witness account.
