Fabrizio Antonelli, coach of Italian cross-country swimming and Gregorio Paltrnieri, leaves his position to go and coach in China. Fin announced this with a note on its official website a few days after the conclusion of the European Championships in open water. “A new and prestigious recognition reaffirms the international authority of the technical-didactic school of the Italian Swimming Federation. Fabrizio Antonelli will embark on a new professional adventure in China, where he will hold a top role in a high-level development program for open water. This is a step that projects the Italian methodological excellence on a global scale, indirectly crowning a decade of progressive affirmation, punctuated by an impressive list of medals Olympic, World and European teams who have written historic pages for the Italian cross country”.

Gregorio Paltrinieri thus remains without the coach who has guided him since 2019 when the collaboration with Stefano Morini ended. The 32-year-old from Carpi thanked his former coach on social media. “When we started swimming together I was coming off great seasons full of successes, but I was starting to think that the best days were over. From there: 4 Olympic medals, 13 world championships, 16 European medals, a cross-country world cup and 3 European records in the pool. I changed my mind. Thank you Fabrizio Antonelli”.
