The Spanish women’s and men’s 4×100 medley relays advance to the final of the European Championship

The Spanish women’s and men’s 4×100 medley relays have qualified this Saturday for their respective finals of the European Aquatic Sports Championships, which are being held in Paris, the first of them with a Spanish record.

In the preliminaries of the women’s relay, Irene Ciércoles started with the backstroke with a time of 1:59.9, Alba Vázquez, with the breaststroke, maintained third place well with a partial time of 1:07.9; Laura Cabanes, with the butterfly and 59.1, gave the last baton to María Daza, who closed with a personal time of 54.2 and completed the test in 4:01.32, a new Spanish record – the previous one was 4:02.3 -, a time that allowed the team to advance to the final with the eighth best mark.

Subsequently, the men’s quartet formed by Iván Martínez Sota (53.7), Nil Cadevall (59.9), Isak Fernández (52.1) and Luca Hoek (47.1) also entered the final of the 4×100 medley. The final time of 3:32.98 took him into sixth place in the final this afternoon.

In the afternoon session, corresponding to the last day of the European Championship, María Ramos in the 50 breaststroke, Hugo González in the 200 medley and Laura Cabanes in the 200 butterfly will also compete in the finals.

Furthermore, in the morning session, Paula Otero, fifteenth in the summary (4:17.03), and Carlos Garach, thirteenth with a time of 3:47.96, could not advance in their 400 meter freestyle series, which was very close to his Spanish record (3:47.29 in Palma 2024).
