Laporta: “We are very interested in Julián Álvarez and we would like our offer to be accepted”

The president of FC Barcelona, Joan Laporta, reiterated this Wednesday that they remain “very interested” in signing the Argentine striker Julián Álvarez and that if Atlético de Madrid is “willing” to transfer him at the end of the market, they will do so “in accordance with the offer” they already made to the red and white club.

“The truth is that we are very interested in the player and we would like our offer to be accepted. We do so with all due respect for Atlético de Madrid, so that they know that if they are willing to sell within this period of the summer market, that we would be willing to buy the player in accordance with the offer we have made to them,” Laporta said in a statement to the club’s official media.

The Blaugrana team has been trying to acquire the services of ‘La Araña’ for several months now, but the red and white team has made it clear that it does not plan to part with the footballer for either 100 or 200 million euros, referring to his clause of 500 million, and despite the fact that he has already shown his desire to be transferred.

The Argentine striker had his first minutes of the season last Sunday against Villarreal CF at the Riyadh Air Metropolitano, which welcomed him with a loud whistle. The colchonero coach, Diego Pablo Simeone, has also made it clear that he is counting on the footballer and that his future belongs to the club.

“We have made very good signings in this market, with a very clear objective. I have all my confidence in the team and we will have to manage some things, find solutions, but the quality we have is enormous and it is what we have to use,” Hansi Flick, FC Barcelona coach, made clear this Wednesday.
