Lazio won 1-0 at Bologna on the first day of the championship with a goal from Frattesi in the 59th minute. At the Dall’Ara, in a very foul match, Gattuso’s team made up for the bad impression of being eliminated from the Italian Cup by Mantua. The former Inter player scored a nice goal after a triangulation with a backheel assist from Boulaye Dia. Tedesco gets off to a bad start after taking over from Italiano on the rossoblù bench.
For his first match in the Italian championship, Tedesco surprised everyone by preferring Odgaard to Bernardeschi from the first minute, while in attack there are Piccoli and Cambiaghi with Dovbyk and Rowe on the bench. Gattuso also changes plans compared to the day before, leaving Frattesi on the bench: Dele-Bashiru is in his place, while Cancellieri is confirmed in attack with Noslin and Isaksen on the bench.
A physical and goalless first half
Good rhythm from the first minutes of the match, and Lazio was the one to be preferred. The first attempt was made by Zaccagni, who failed to place the ball at the far post after a nice exchange with Dia, who had made a good move to come out to clear the inside lane. Bologna responds with a timid turn by Piccoli, well controlled by Mandas. The Biancoceleste goalkeeper trembled in the 37th minute, when he was caught off guard by a shot from Zortea deflected by Provstgaard, but luckily for him the ball went out wide. A few minutes earlier, Dia had found the net but started clearly offside following Doekhi’s long ball. Of note in the 19th minute was Marusic’s exit from the pitch due to a physical problem, replaced by Floriani Mussolini. A very physical and nervous first half therefore ends goalless, with five yellow cards.
Frattesi’s goal for Lazio
In the 48th minute, a huge opportunity for Bologna: Ferguson’s cross finds Odgaard completely free in the small area, but Mandas’s save is superb on the Dane’s header. In the 54th minute Gattuso lost another piece when Dele-Bashiru was also forced off, replaced by Frattesi. And it is he, the most awaited man in the Biancoceleste home, who breaks the deadlock in the 59th minute with a powerful shot from a few steps after the excellent triangle with Dia, who frees the midfielder with a backheel.
Bologna’s final forcing
Tedesco tries to shake up his team with substitutions, but Rowe and Dovbyk have no impact. Bernardeschi has a little more impact, as in the 76th minute he tries to surprise Mandas on his own post with a free kick, who smashes it onto the woodwork. The visiting goalkeeper is still effective a few seconds later, anticipating Rowe, who had pounced on a loose ball. The minutes passed but Bologna was unable to find the opportunity to equalize except at the last minute, when Dovbyk missed the attack in the area and Ferguson kicked at Floriani Mussolini.
The one celebrating, therefore, is Gattuso, who updates his positive score against the rossoblù (six wins and two draws in eight previous matches as coach) but above all brings home the first three points in his new adventure with the biancoceleste.
