Former Coritiba and Corinthians player lives on the streets and faces drug addiction

The former striker Regis Pitbullwho passed through Coritiba At the end of the 1990s, it was in a delicate situation. At 49 years old, the former player has been homeless for around two months in Pirituba, in the North Zone of São Paulo, while facing drug addiction.

The former athlete’s situation was portrayed in a report published by ge.globo this Wednesday (2). Currently, Régis lives in an improvised shelter made of tarpaulins, blankets and cardboard in a square in the neighborhood where he was born and raised.

In addition to Coritiba, the former striker spent time at clubs such as Corinthians, Vasco, Bahia and Portuguesa. Ponte Preta and Ceará are also among the most memorable teams of his career.

According to the report, Régis started living on the streets after staying for periods with family and friends. The former player still has an apartment, but debts related to condominium and IPTU put the property at risk amid a legal dispute.

The former striker has lived with drug addiction for years and reports using crack. During the monitoring carried out by the geRégis also claimed to have used a mixture of cannabis flower with “ice”, a high concentration extract of the plant.

The report also showed the difficulties faced by the former player in his daily life. Régis depends on donations for some meals and uses an improvised shelter to protect himself from the cold and rain.

Régis Pitbull was arrested twice in 2025

Régis also recently faced problems with the courts. In March 2025, the former player was arrested in the act after attacking a 69-year-old sub-manager in the building where he lived, in Pirituba.

Security camera footage recorded the moment the former striker headbutted and punched the man twice. Subsequently, Régis received provisional release upon compliance with precautionary measures, including the use of an electronic ankle bracelet.

In July of that year, the former player was arrested again for failing to comply with court orders, including the use of an ankle bracelet and monthly attendance at the forum.

Régis Pitbull had a spell at Coritiba

Régis Pitbull played for Coritiba in 1999, on loan, in a short spell at the club. The striker had previously stood out for Ponte Preta and arrived at Coxa at the beginning of his career.

After experience at Coritiba, Régis passed through Ceará and returned to Ponte Preta. Throughout his career, the striker also played for football in Portugal, Japan, South Korea, Turkey and Kuwait, in addition to defending Corinthians, Vasco, Bahia and Portuguesa in Brazil.
