Barça and Real Madrid strengthen themselves in a market where the Spanish League loses weight

The transfer market closed this Tuesday in the five major leagues, with a clear role for the English Premier League, which broke its own spending record, while LaLiga EA Sports continues to lose weight in the market and is already quantitatively surpassed by Serie A and the Bundesliga, despite the fact that FC Barcelona and Real Madrid have had a lot of prominence in a window that has brought world champions such as Rodri Hernández and Marc Cucurella, or Bernardo, back to Spanish football. Silva, Yan Diomande, Anthony Gordon, Kang-in Lee, Cristian Romero or Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

The Premier League has once again been, one more transfer period, the one that has invested the most money in players. The top English competition raised spending during the summer months to more than 4.1 billion euros, according to data from Transfermarkt. A figure that represents the record of disbursement of a competition during a period, surpassing the amount of 4,072 million that they spent between summer and winter last season.

In addition, six transfers have exceeded the figure of 100 million euros – Enzo Fernández (145M), Morgan Rogers (138M), Elliot Anderson (135M), Bradley Barcola (125M) and Sandro Tonali (108M) -, with Yan Diomande (125M), who signed for Real Madrid, being the only one made by a non-English club.

Likewise, six other signings in the English championship exceeded or equaled 70 million euros, to which is added that four English clubs were the protagonists of centenary signings, as well as five of them – Manchester City, Chelsea, Arsenal, Tottenham and Liverpool – were the protagonists of nine of the 10 highest transfers in the market.

To find LaLiga EA Sports in that transfer ranking, beyond the Ivorian footballer, there is that of the Englishman Anthony Gordon, Newcastle’s international winger for whom FC Barcelona paid 80 million euros.

The top category of Spanish football continues to lose the weight it had in the international market, being surpassed in total spending by competitions such as the Italian Serie A and the German Bundesliga, but its two main teams, FC Barcelona and Real Madrid, have spent large amounts.

Perhaps the most media signing of all has been that of the Spanish midfielder Rodrigo Hernández, once again coveted after his great World Cup with the ‘Red’ and who after a soap opera in which he had to choose between the two greats of Spain, ended up choosing the azulgranas (60M).

In addition, the current League champion has added Karim Adeyemi (22M), Gabriel Jesus (10M), Jesse Bisiwu (8.5M), Dominik Livakovic (2M), Hamza Abdelkarim (1.5M) and Joao Cancelo as free agents to its squad to be the second highest spending team in LaLiga EA Sports with 184 million, behind Real Madrid.

And despite not signing Rodri because in theory he was one of their biggest needs, Real Madrid has been the great agitator of the market in Spain. José Mourinho’s project 2.0 has arrived with six signings and an expenditure of 225 million euros under his arm, led by the 125 million paid to the German RB Leipzig for the promising, but unknown, Yan Diomande, the most expensive player in the club’s history.

Another of the names in the Madrid market has been that of the world champion Marc Cucurella, the second most expensive in the Madrid market with 55 million paid to Chelsea, followed by 25 million for Carlos Espí to Levante and 20 million to Inter Milan for Denzel Dumfries. In addition, Ibrahima Konaté and Bernardo Silva have also arrived at the white club as free agents.

ATHLETICO IS STRENGTHENED IN ALL LINES

The one that has experienced a calmer market than in recent seasons has been Atlético de Madrid. The colchoneros have been much more protagonists of the transfer window due to the ‘Julián Álvarez case’, which has remained in the mattress entity, than because of the signings. Even so, they have spent 123 million to incorporate Morten Hjulmand (40M), Kang-in Lee (35M), Cristian Romero (33M), Alejandro Grimaldo (15M) and Jonathan David, on loan from Juventus.

Among the rest of the LaLiga EA Sports teams, one of those that has moved the most has been a historic team that has returned to the top category, Deportivo de A Coruña. Up to 10 new faces have joined Antonio Hidalgo’s project, among which the Gabonese striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Adama Traoré, Angeliño, Marc Casadó and José María Giménez stand out.

As for the other two teams that will compete in the next Champions League, Villarreal CF has not moved much, while the return of Dani Ceballos and the signing of full-back Fran García and Scottish striker Troy Parrott have stood out for Real Betis.

A PSG SELLER

Beyond the Spanish and English borders, the market of the current European champion, Paris Saint-Germian, stands out as more seller than buyer. Luis Enrique Martínez’s team, winner of the last two Champions Leagues, has sold for 334 million euros, with Liverpool FC paying more than 120 million for Bradley Barcola, while the biggest outlay of the summer has been the 50 million paid to Monaco for Maghnes Akliouche, a figure closely followed by the 48.5 million paid for the hero of Spain’s second World Cup star, Ferran Torres.

In the Bundesliga, Bayern has once again been the team with the highest investment, although its two most expensive signings have been those of the Moroccan Ismael Saibari and the German Nathaniel Brown, both for 50 million. In Serie A, the most expensive signing in the history of AC Milan stands out, paying 74 million for Gonçalo Ramos.
