New offensive signing Konstantinos Karetsas and winger Daniel Svensson are ready for Borussia Dortmund’s Champions League opener against FC Villarreal. “The two of them are perfectly healthy. That means they are an alternative for tomorrow’s game,” said coach Niko Kovac before the game on Tuesday (9 p.m./Prime Video). The 18-year-old Greek Karetsas and his Swedish teammate Svensson did not train with the team in the morning.
Kovac, on the other hand, has to do without the injured or suspended Emre Can, Nico Schlotterbeck and Ramy Bensebaini as well as Filippo Mane. The defender is struggling with a muscle injury. The 21-year-old will only be available again after the international break in October, said Kovac.
