Shareholders’ meeting at Haching: Things can only get rosier

At the end of the event, Manfred Schwabl sent an encouraging greeting to the around 100 shareholders who tuned in: “To a rosy future for SpVgg Unterhaching!” shouted the president of the regional football league club into the virtual world, because the meeting of those who hold shares in the Spielvereinigung Unterhaching Fußball GmbH & Co. KGaA took place without a physical presence. And so Schwabl, president of the association, managing director of the KGaA and, according to his own statements, more of an analogue contemporary, had to speak his anything but uplifting news into a web camera: At the end of the 2024/25 financial year, the stock corporation had an uncovered deficit of more than 13 million euros; the loss in that year was a whopping 17.27 million. Schwabl was nevertheless exonerated by a good 99 percent of all shareholders.

The financial situation has worsened again compared to the previous year, when the deficit was stated at 10.66 million euros and the balance sheet loss at 14.6 million euros. The price of the share, which started trading on July 30, 2019 with a value of 8.30 euros, is now only 86 cents. And that will only change again “when we move towards the third league again,” says Schwabl, “then we’ll get back into the area that’s fun.”

Holger Seitz is the new coach at the regional league club after Sven Bender moved to Jürgen Klopp’s staff

The new Hachinger coach, which the president announced at the shareholders’ meeting, is expected to contribute to this: Holger Seitz, who recently worked for FC Bayern’s youth department for eleven years and was promoted to the third division with the second team in 2019, will be the successor to Sven Bender, who was appointed to the staff of the new national coach Jürgen Klopp at the end of July. Former Unterhaching professional Benjamin Schwarz returns to the club as Seitz’s assistant.

Schwabl also announced that an agreement with a new main sponsor is imminent and that they want to move upwards again by the 2027/28 season at the latest, when the champions of the Bavarian Regional League are promoted directly next time. The incentive for the Unterhachingers, who continue to rely on talent from their NLZ, is the DFB’s funding pot, which has been increased to six million euros for those third division clubs that give many young footballers match practice.
