FCN: Club sports director Hecking: “I’m not running away from criticism!” | Sport

In the end, as a coach, he pulled the cart out of the dirt himself, at least prevented relegation.

But Nuremberg’s sports leader Dieter Hecking (58) is still heavily criticized by many club fans after the disappointing last season. Despite staying up, many fans demanded a completely new start at the Valznerweiher – without Hecking.

Hecking doesn’t even think about it: “I certainly wasn’t perfect last year. Unfortunately, the sporting result was not satisfactory. It is clear that Kritk is there. But you have to be able to endure it. I’m not one to run away from criticism, I’ve never done that.”

Hecking continued: “I think I worked through it and felt the support of everyone at the club. That’s the most important sign for me.” Among other things, last year’s goal for the season (first to sixth place) kept flying around the ears of the FCN sports director.

Now Hecking says before the new season: “I think it’s wrong to set a goal at the moment, based on the experiences of the last year!”

One thing is clear: It has to be better than in the past horror season
