While Jakob Fuglsang is chasing the first victory of the year on the roads, he has already won a big one of its kind in private.
The 36-year-old Israel Premier Tech rider will be the father this summer.
This is what his wife, Loulou, just posted on Instagram:
‘Our little family is growing this summer. Jamie will soon be big sister, ‘writes Loulou Fuglsang.
The couple have been together since 2011, when Jakob Fuglsang was 25, while Loulou was just 16. They got married in 2015, moved to Monaco in 2016, and they had a daughter, Jamie Lou, in 2017.
The two met when Jakob Fuglsang lived in Luxembourg, where Loulou comes from. Actually, it was his good friend Andy Schleck who was interested in Loulou, but she liked the Danish cyclist the best.
A good rule of thumb for a cyclist is not to have children in the summer during the Tour de France, as they then risk being absent on all the child’s birthdays until the Tour career is over.
That exercise came Fuglsang quite from in 2017, when Jamie Lou was born a week before the Tour start in Düsseldorf. The question is whether child number two also stays free of the Tour, which this year starts in Copenhagen on 1 July.
