Ribéry could get FC Bayern fit

In the speculation about a new Bayern coach, a spectacular idea with Franck Ribéry has been raised, which many Munich football fans would certainly be very happy about. The “Bild” newspaper wrote on Thursday about a “thought game” between the club bosses: Ribéry could therefore return to the club he loves as an assistant coach – alongside his compatriot Zinédine Zidane if he were to take over the position of head coach.

However, this scenario is not very likely. Zidane is not considered a top candidate for the Munich coaching position, also for language reasons. According to reports, the desired coach to succeed Thomas Tuchel is Leverkusen’s Xabi Alonso.

It comes as no surprise that there is speculation about the future of Munich club legend Ribéry. The 40-year-old recently gave up his position as technical trainer at Serie A club US Salernitana in Italy. The Frenchman has long been considered a candidate for a position in Munich, but rather for the youth sector.

Unusual ideas also come up when looking for a trainer

The former triple winner Ribéry ended his active professional career with the southern Italian club in 2022. He then took over as technical trainer alongside Filippo Inzaghi and then Fabio Liverani. He previously played for FC Bayern Munich from 2007 to 2019, with whom he won the German championship several times, the DFB Cup and the Champions League in 2013. He was a fan favorite for years.

The Munich sports director Max Eberl recently stated that he did not have a plan A, B or C when looking for a coach. As a basis, he and sports director Christoph Freund drew up a list of candidates. “There are more than four, but not 40 names on it,” the 50-year-old told “Sport Bild”. Unusual ideas also appeared on the list.
