Alba Berlin makes short work of Saarlouis

Alba Berlin also won the third quarter-final against the Saarlouis Royals and, like last year, is in the semi-finals of the German championship. After two home wins at the start of the play-offs, the first in the main round also prevailed in the first away game in Saarland and won 71:63 (20:11, 13:22, 18:13, 20:17). The most successful Berlin throwers were Stefanie Grigoleit (14 points), Maggie Mulligan and Lena Gohlisch (10 each).

Alba starts the semi-finals with home advantage next Friday, April 5th, at 7 p.m. in the Sömmeringhalle. The second game will also take place two days later in Berlin. However, it is not yet clear who it will be against. In the quarter-finals Nördlingen against Central German BC the score is currently 1:2. The fourth game will be played this Saturday and a possible fifth on Monday.

Master Keltern also qualified early for the second semi-final with a 3-0 win in the quarter-final against Freiburg. Here cup winners Hannover and Osnabrück (intermediate score 2:1) are fighting for the second ticket.

Last season, Alba surprisingly qualified for the semi-finals as a promoted team and lost 1:2 against eventual champions Keltern in the best of three mode. The Berliners finished the recently completed main round of this season first. However, after 15 wins in a row, there was a setback in the cup two weeks ago when Alba lost clearly to Hannover in the semi-finals. “It was a warning at the right time,” said playmaker Deeshyra Thomas before the start of the play-offs.
