Football The head coach of HIFK, who plays in the Veikkausliiga, changes.

Portuguese Bernardo Tavares resigned from the position of head coach of the Helsinki team yesterday due to family reasons.

Tavares is no longer involved in HIFK’s activities this week. The application process for a new head coach began immediately.

“We understand the reasons and backgrounds for his solution. There will be surprising situations like this in football. Naturally, we reacted quickly and immediately launched the application process for a new head coach, ”HIFK’s Sports Executive Director Mika Lönnström says in a press release.

The rest of the coaching team will continue in the background of the HIFK team. According to Lönnström, the goal is to find a new coach before the home opening of the season against IFK Mariehamn, which will be played before Saturday.

“But we want to do this process carefully and explore all the options. I believe that a solution will be found soon, but without haste, ”says Lönnström.

HIFK started its league season last Saturday in Seinäjoki with a loss to SJK 1-2.
