Paris Marathon: Ethiopian Fikir wins in the sprint ahead of her compatriot Tirusew

This shows that the 195 m in addition to the 42 km count as a marathon. In a breathtaking finale, Mestawut Fikir won the sprint in this Paris marathon in 2h20’43” ahead of her compatriot Enatnesh Tirusew. The difference was made in the final straight less than 200 m from the finish.

The two Ethiopians Mestawut Fikir and Enatnesh Tirusew who discovered the distance this Sunday after having already performed in the semi last year offered a magnificent show to the spectators present in the Parisian streets. Tirusew gave up in the last meters and set a time of 2h20’47”, four seconds from victory.

Kenyan Vivian Cheruiyot, Olympic 5,000m champion in 2016 and who, at 39, had not participated in a marathon since 2019, took third place in 2h21’47”.

 

As for the men with the duel between Mulugeta Uma and Titus Kipruto, this women’s marathon was decided 7 km from the finish when the two compatriots escaped to play for victory together, notably letting go of their compatriot Rahma Tusa , long in the lead.
