“Human remains” near Manchester United training

The English authorities closed the area surrounding the Manchester United Academy, after the remains of a human body were found wrapped in plastic bags, steps away from the team’s training headquarters.

The body was found by a member of the public, on Thursday afternoon, in the woods of Bakersall Dale in Salford. The authorities opened an investigation into the incident, and the forensic doctor who was called to the scene confirmed that it was human remains, according to The Telegraph.

The area near The Cliff facility, where Manchester United’s first team used to train and where the club’s academy is now based, has been closed.

For his part, a spokesman for Greater Manchester Police said that although the remains have not been identified, a murder investigation has begun, asking anyone who has information related to the incident to submit it to the police.

A police official said: “There is now a major event, and it will likely remain for some time. While we work to uncover exactly what happened here, the area is closed to members of the public.”

He added: “The victim has not yet been identified, but we know that behind this discovery there will be a family that lost a loved one, and we want to make sure that we support them as quickly as possible. Anyone who believes that they may have witnessed something suspicious in the Kersal Dale area during the past few days, “It could be the key to uncovering what happened.”
