Salvation shot for Empoli. Turin beaten 3-2

In the postponement of the thirty-first matchday of Serie A, Empoli beat Torino 3-2 and made an important move towards safety. A match full of twists and turns and characterized by a crazy recovery takes place at the Castellani: the scorers of the evening for Empoli are Cambiaghi, Cancellieri and Niang, while Zapata scores a brace for Torino. At the start, Empoli immediately broke the deadlock, thanks to Cambiaghi’s first goal of the season: in the 6th minute the former Atalanta player kicked powerfully with his left foot from the edge of the area, bending Milinkovic’s hands and scoring the 1-0 goal .

After a crackling start to the match, the first half proved to be balanced and very tactical but Toro lacked precision. In the first minutes of the second half, Empoli suffered from the proud reaction of the Granata and, in the 52nd minute, Caprile saved the Tuscans, performing a miracle on Zapata’s close range header. The equalizer, however, is now in the air and Zapata, following a corner from Vojvoda, equalizes with a header, winning the duel with Luperto. Nicola then draws from the bench to reverse the psychological inertia of the match. The entrances of Maleh and Cancellieri proved decisive and in the 74th minute the home team regained the lead: from a counterattack, Maleh fed Cancellieri, who did well to make it 2-1, thanks to a sharp left-footed shot.

Torino concedes goals in their best form, but Juric’s team doesn’t want to give up. The injury time was simply crazy and everything happened: first Zapata scored the 2-2 with a header, then, two minutes later, Niang put Empoli back in the lead, taking advantage of Bellanova’s naivety. With this success, Empoli rises to 28 points, moving three points clear of the relegation zone and putting an end to a negative streak that had lasted for 4 games. On the other hand, however, Torino remains ninth, but still clinging to the European train.
