The volleyball players from Allianz MTV Stuttgart forced a fifth game in the playoff final for the German championship. The defending champion and three-time champion deservedly won 3-0 (26:24, 25:19, 25:20) against SSC Palmberg Schwerin on Wednesday and equalized 2-2 in the best-of-five series. The decision will be made on Sunday in the last duel in Schwerin (5:10 p.m.). In front of 2,251 spectators in the sold-out Scharrena, the Stuttgart women also retained their chance of winning the national triple of championship, cup and Supercup. Bundesliga record champion Schwerin is still hoping for its first title since 2018. The best point collector was MTV top player Krystal Rivers with 21 points.

The SSC caused a lot of problems for the hosts in the first set with their fast play, and Rivers also had a hard time at first. It was only towards the end that the Stuttgart women’s block was more secure and they were able to narrowly prevail. The game initially remained close in the second half. But then Stuttgart took advantage of the strong outside attacker Maria Segura Palleres and secured the preliminary decision. In the third set, MTV brought home the victory with the ever-improving Rivers.
