All-pink referee team for Inter-Torino, first time in Serie A

Inter-Turin, the ‘lunch time’ on Sunday in which the Nerazzurri’s title will be celebrated, will go down in history as the first Serie A match refereed by an all-female team. The 33 year old from Livorno Maria Sole Ferrieri Caputi will in fact be supported by assistants Francesca Di Monte and Tiziana Trasciatti. For this trio of squads it is another ‘first’ after the one in Serie B on 26 December 2022, when they managed Frosinone-Ternana, and the one in the Italian Cup in January 2023 for the round of 16 final between Napoli and Cremonese. Ferrieri Caputi, graduated in Sociology and social research, has been a professional referee since the 2020/2021 season. In October 2022 with Sassuolo-Salernitana she became the first woman to referee a Serie A match.
