Ice Hockey Federation has finished his investigation of the under-17 national team’s mobile phone scandal in the Tranås tournament that ended last Sunday.

Based on the report made together with the Swedish federation, the Finnish team management got a clean bill of materials.

“We have now heard the views of everyone who was present about what happened, and no inappropriate behavior like the one highlighted has come to light”, Jääkieksoliitto’s CEO Sami Kauhanen says in the announcement and continues:

“We agree with the Swedish Ice Hockey Association that the events of the evening do not correspond to the description presented in the media.”

The CEO of the Ice Hockey League, Sami Kauhanen, says that the association took the mobile allegations seriously.

Local Tranås Newspaper reported on Monday that during the five-nation tournament, the Finnish team management had made a “group trip” to Jönköping, an hour’s drive away, and had vomited on the bus on the way back to the hotel.

According to the ice hockey association’s release, one member of the team management had indeed felt sick on the way back from a restaurant dinner that was part of the tournament program, but the cause of the sickness was not alcohol consumption.

Only part of the Finnish team management participated in the restaurant dinner. During that time, the players had spent the night off at their own hotel under the supervision of a member of the team’s management team.

Ice Hockey Federation said that he took the accusations seriously. That’s why a thorough investigation of what happened was done. The association said that it had heard from both those present and the Swedish Hockey Association.

“One of Suomi-kieko’s central goals is the comprehensive education of children and young people. In addition, at the national team level, good, practical and exemplary behavior is expected from the team, and especially from the team management.”

“These are important issues for us, and that’s why we also don’t want to comment on such issues hastily,” says CEO Kauhanen.
