2nd League: Hertha professional Barkok attacked in Berlin restaurant – Sport

Professional soccer player Aymen Barkok, who is currently on loan from FSV Mainz to Hertha BSC, was injured in a Berlin restaurant. As both clubs announced on Monday, the incident occurred on the night of Saturday to Sunday.

The 25-year-old Moroccan international player, who was born in Frankfurt/Main, suffered facial injuries that have already been treated surgically. Hertha reacted “with horror” to the incident. According to the second division team and Mainz, Barkok is said to have been physically attacked.

Details about the incident were initially not known, but the police began an investigation. Barkok will not be available for the time being, Hertha announced. The offensive player has been playing on loan at the capital club since mid-January. Since then he has been used twelve times and was on the starting line-up ten times. At the next start, a purchase obligation of 600,000 euros should apply.
