The Czech Republic, which was second in Vantaa’s B group, lost to Kazakhstan 3–4. The winning goal came in overtime. It was shot by Mstislav Šiplin in time 64.03.

The Czech Republic led the match 2–0 and 3–2, but failed to keep Kazakhstan behind them. Thus, the team could not secure the second place in the group. The rankings behind Canada will be decided in the meeting between Sweden and Switzerland on Tuesday.

The victory was the first in Kazakhstan’s history at the highest level of the Under-18 World Cup.

Despite the win, Kazakhstan is in last place in Group B. In their last match of the preliminary group, they face Canada, one of the favorites of the Games, so surprises must increase in order to secure a place in the next round.

Finland will face the United States in the final match of Group A. The bet is the group win.
