Red Bull confirms Newey's departure

Red Bull has made the separation official by the English designer Adrian Newey, great protagonist of his triumphs in Formula 1, at the beginning 2025. In a statement the Austrian team based in Milton Keynes, England, specified that Newey will leave his role as technical director in first quarter next year. Newey will step down from Formula 1 design duties to focus on the final development and delivery of Red Bull’s first hypercar, the RB17, the statement said. For next season there is speculation that he will join Ferrari and in recent days there has also been talk of a meeting in London with Fred Vasseur, the red team principal.

Under the technical direction of the 65-year-old engineer from Colchester, Red Bull has won 7 drivers’ and 6 constructors’ titles between 2006 and 2023 but the relationship with the team had deteriorated for the split caused byinternal investigation into team principal Christian Horner, accused of “inappropriate behavior” towards an employee and then cleared. Horner was supported by the team’s main shareholder, the Thai Chalerm Yoovidhya, while the heirs of the founder Dietrich Mateschitz, who died in October 2022, and Max Verstappen himself would have lined up against him.
