Ferrari fans dream of the ‘genius’

The Red Bull announces Adrian Newey’s departure from the team. The designer, who has been designing the single-seaters of the world champion team for two decades, he will leave the team in early 2025. Newey will step away from Formula 1-related operations during 2024, although he will be present in some GPs. The ‘genius will focus on the project of the RB17, the first hypercar that Red Bull intends to unveil in July at Goodwood. The farewell of Newey, who arrived at Red Bull in 2006 and was decisive for the conquest of 7 Drivers’ World Championships, opens up suggestive scenarios in the Formula 1 market. “It’s time to pass the baton to others and look for new challenges”, the words of the Chief Technical Officer in the note released by Red Bull.

Aston Martin has already made an offer to the designer, who would have the opportunity to continue working in England. It is inevitable, however, to ‘dream’ of Newey’s arrival at Ferrari for a new era which will open in Maranello in 2025 with the arrival of Lewis Hamiltonnext companion of Charles Leclerc.

In the official communication, Red Bull specifically refers to the “first quarter of 2025” as the period in which the divorce will take place. It is clear that Newey therefore, if he wanted to move to another team, would in fact not be able to design the 2025 single-seater and would only be able to make an impact in view of the 2026 season.
