Big hit in Eisenstadt: fabulous record by track and field athlete Hudson

It has been a difficult season so far for Victoria Hudson. Stubborn back problems have repeatedly forced the Austrian javelin thrower to her knees; in the past few weeks, the 27-year-old has had to tone down and cancel her appearance at some meetings.

Victoria Hudson returned impressively on her comeback in Eisenstadt on Wednesday: with one new Austrian record which is also causing a stir internationally.

Hudson hurled his spear at Eisenstadt 66,06 Meter and thus entered a new dimension. The HSZ athlete improved her own record by almost one and a half meters and is now – almost with one throw – suddenly one of the favorites at the Summer Olympics in Paris.

“I wouldn’t have expected such a perfect debut. This distance shows that I’m ready for the European Championships in Rome,” beamed the 27-year-old from Lower Austria.”

The distance of 66.06 meters would have been enough to win the silver medal at the last Summer Games in Tokyo; in the 2024 annual ranking, Hudson is in second place behind the Colombian Ruiz Hurtado (66.70 meters).
