Riots at the Final Four in Berlin – Sport

Before the start of the Final Four of the Basketball Euroleague in the Berlin Arena at Ostbahnhof, there were clashes between fans of Panathinaikos Athens and Fenerbahce Istanbul. According to a police spokeswoman, bottles were thrown and pyrotechnics were used on Friday. Around 60 people took advantage of the situation to gain access to the Uber Arena before admission began.

Entry to the arena was then temporarily stopped. The police took the identities of the people and banned them from entering the game on Friday evening, regardless of whether they had a valid ticket or not. The officers also ordered the 60 people to leave the area, the spokeswoman said. The entrance to the arena was later reopened.

The final round of the best four teams in the Euroleague will take place in Berlin this weekend. Panathinaikos Athens will play Fenerbahce Istanbul in the semifinals, followed by a match between Real Madrid and Olympiakos Piraeus. The match for third place and the final will take place this Sunday. Alba Berlin and Bayern Munich both missed the playoffs. The Munich team finished the preliminary round in 15th place, while the Berlin team did not get past 18th and last place.
