Giro d'Italia 2024, Vendrame wins in Sappada and Pogacar lord of the race

Andrea Vendrame solo wins the 19th stage of the Giro d’Italia, the 157km Mortegliano-Sappada. The Venetian rider of AG2R La Difesa wins with just over a minute ahead of the Spaniard Pelayo Sanchez (Movistar) and the German Georg Steinhauser (EF Education-EasyPost).

It is the fifth success of an Italian in this edition of the pink race, after the three victories of Jonathan Milan and that of Filippo Ganna. The Slovenian Tadej Pogacar, who joined the group more than a quarter of an hour late, easily retains the pink jersey as leader of the general classification with 7’42” over the Colombian Daniel Martinez (Bora-Hansgrohe). Tomorrow twentieth and penultimate stage , starting from Alpago and arriving in Bassano del Grappa after 184 km.
