Take-Two fires several members of its AI team, including the division director

Take-Two ha restructured its artificial intelligence (AI) division through a series of layoffs among whom are the director of the section, as well as his team.

Take-Two’s former AI director, Luke Dicken, has published a statement on his LinkedIn profile in which he announced that his time at the company has ended. “It’s really disappointing to have to share with you that my time at T2 – and that of my team – has come to an end,” he said.

In the same publication, Dicken has announced that he will soon make a more in-depth reflection, but for the moment He has focused on finding work for his team “especially in the current situation.”

“We’ve been developing cutting-edge technology for game development for seven years. These people know how to combine innovation and novel approaches to problem solving with strong product design experience to create systems that empower people throughout the entire development process,” Dicken explained.

The company responsible for Rockstar Games, 2K y Zynga has dispensed with several employees from this division despite the fact that its CEO, Strauss Zelnick, defended last October that Generative AI would help create jobs and not destroy them.

“Technology always increases productivity, which in turn increases GDP, and this, in turn, increases employment,” Zelnick stressed during a conference in San Francisco reported by Game Developer.

In addition, the executive director stated last February that they were working with Generative AI to simplify tasks and “freeing up creators to spend more time on more interesting tasks.”

“We are actively adopting generative AI. We have hundreds of pilot projects and implementations across the company, including our studios,” Zelnick explained during an investor conference reported by PC Gamer.
